Project Pan 2018

Cleaning out my vanity table a few weeks ago really made me think about the amount of makeup that I have and how little I actually use most of it. When I was working at my previous job, it made sense to have different lipstick, lipgloss, eyeshadow, blush and highlighter shades. My collection was somewhat defensible. Now, it’s harder to defend my compulsion for buying and collecting every shiny new product. The problem is that my everyday look is so minimal and I keep coming up with more reasons to simplify this routine.

I’m not exactly sure when I started really collecting make-up but I can guess that it’s around 3 years ago. As most, the collection started off slowly and then just took off. Over these few years I have thrown things out and tried to cut down on my spending but none of that really held. My collection is still way more than I will ever need or more importantly be able to use before the products expire.
After watching a few project pans on Youtube, I slowly decided that this may be for me since it seems like I’ve never used up anything. It’s taken me a while to fully decide to do a project pan myself because I don’t want to be consumed with using up products quickly.
The products that I have chosen are ones that I have been reaching for in the last 2 months. I will continue to try and minimize my collection because very few people actually really need 50+ lip products. There is no point in holding onto things that I never use.

The eye products are not necessarily ones that I want to get rid of, it’s more about using them up before they expire.

I just purchased the MAC concealer in (NC42) but it’s my summer color so I want to use it up before I purchase another one. The Maybelline concealer just arrived in my local Kruitvat after looking for it in this country for years. The thing is, it’s not as good as I remember and the coverage is less than desired.

The Maybelline Master Strobing Stick is absolutely amazing on my skin, so it’s more about using before it expires.

I’ve never finished or even hit pan on any blush or bronzer and I want to get more comfortable wearing these regularly.

The main focus of my project pan goal is getting through my lip products. I picked these colors specifically because I would feel comfortable wearing them in on a day-to-day basis and in the warmer months. I would like to finish the Essence Purifying Lip Oil is because it’s alright but not amazing and there is another product that I would like to try. Although these colors may not be very adventurous or daring, it’s a way for me to get back into wearing lipstick since it is something that I enjoyed the most about makeup.

The most realistic goal is for me to finish these by the end of the year but for the mascaras, I want to finish them in the next 3 months.
