Benefits of Coconut Oil for Hair

Coconut oil is many people holy grail oil for skin, hair, nails, cooking, and many others. Coconut oil can be used to achieve shinier, thicker and longer locks because it is enriched with lots of nutrients and moisturizing qualities.

Here are some other benefits that coconut oil has that you may not know:

Itchy Scalp and Dandruff:

Coconut oil is effective when treating an itchy scalp and dandruff, as it is an effective moisturizer.  Applying a small amount of coconut oil on the scalp can moisturize the skin and can help with dry scalp flaking. oconut oil consists the properties of a sebum, which is a reason why this oil keeps the scalp moisturized preventing problems like itchy scalp and dandruff which are a result of the production of fungus and bacteria on the surface of the hair. It is an effective way to keep lice at bay as it has anti-parasitic properties.

Lice Prevention

According to a study published in the European Journal of Pediatrics, the use of coconut oil can prevent lice. Coconut oil penetrates the hair shaft, and the scalp, helping to repel lice by keeping their eggs from attaching to the hair. Coconut oil should however, never be used in place of an actual lice treatment if there is an infestation. Coconut oil should only be used to help prevent lice.

Hair Growth

In combination with a healthy diet, drinking enough water and taking care of your hair, coconut oil can assist with hair growth. It can help hair to grow, healthier, longer and thicker. The nutrients within the oil penetrate the hair shaft improving the overall health of the hair and scalp.
